Navigating the quirky world of my Christmas novella - The Christmas Rift

I’ve been working (between mammoth procrastinating) on my new Christmas novella “The Christmas Rift”. It's been a refreshing change of pace to write about younger characters, early thirties instead of my usual forties, fifties and beyond. I’m hoping that when I eventually wrestle the ending out of my brain and onto the page, it’ll go down a treat. That said, I’m a touch nervous, because some of these characters are… well, let’s just say they’re not exactly the shy and retiring sort.
I am introducing 2 new characters who are not what you would expect. A little eccentric, a little odd but hopefully entertaining and bringing a new dimension to the story. They will either be met with great reviews or miss the mark. Only time will tell whether readers give me a resounding thumbs up or decide it’s all just too bat-shit bonkers to handle. I’m walking a fine line between “delightfully quirky” and “has completely lost the plot”… and to be honest, I’m not entirely sure which side I’m going to land on.
The screenplay adaptation of Playing with Fire is coming along a treat, and by “a treat”, I mean I keep having to pinch myself that this is actually happening and not some elaborate daydream brought on by too much Yorkshire Tea and Jammie
Wagon Wheels.
