Sunday Lunch with a Twist at Star of Siam in East Rainton

Night view of a restaurant exterior, "The Star of Siam" sign lit above the entrance. Warm indoor lighting shows diners inside. Brick facade.

Ryan and I decided to shake things up a bit and headed for some Sunday lunch to the Star of Siam Thai restaurant at the Highfield Hotel in East Rainton.

And honestly? What a meal.

We went for the express menu, which was phenomenal value… or it would have been if the two of us hadn’t gone completely rogue and added a mixed starter on top. In our defence, there isn’t a spare rib in existence that Ryan can’t get along with.

I was slightly hesitant beforehand, mostly because a traditional Sunday lunch usually means I inherit both Yorkshire puddings (tragic, I know, but with a hubby who can’t stand them someone has to do it). That said, I’m more than willing to make that sacrifice again because the satay alone was worth it. Absolutely top notch.

Safe to say we’ll definitely be back.

We might try an Indian next Sunday, good to mix things up. Although given that even a mild korma shoots through Rymondo like a freight train, I may need to mentally prepare and buy extra toilet roll in preparation.
