Take That at the Stadium of Light: Teenage Me Is Thriving

Crowd at a nighttime concert, arms raised toward a blazing orange stage with smoke and lights, creating an energetic mood

Today approximately thirty of my nearest, dearest and loudest friends will descend en masse upon the Stadium of Light to see Take That.

And honestly, Sunderland may never recover. I cannot wait.

Like many girls of my generation, teenage me had an absolutely enormous crush on Mark Owen. Proper serious business. Posters on the wall, daydreaming of wedding cake, no doubt  writing Mrs Mark Owen in exercise books levels of commitment.

Admittedly these days the crush has faded, mostly because I’m older, wiser and he does rather resemble a squashed frog now. But the excitement remains.

There is something about hearing those songs that immediately transports you back. Suddenly you’re seventeen again, singing into a hairbrush.

And somehow this trip has got even better. My amazing bestie Deb is treating us all to corporate hospitality. Corporate hospitality!!!!!!!

I’m imagining sophistication, elegance, lovely grub and lots of top ups of fizz.

However, I’m mildly concerned that my Temu Take That T-shirt may not stretch over the “ladies” I just worry the logo will be that stretched it will resemble my overdraft.

But never mind…I’ll sing and I’ll dance to cover any embarrassment. I can’t wait!
